What is QR Code?

QR code is just like a barcode, but you can think of it as code that is specifically designed for use with smartphones

A modern smartphone has a built-in camera that allows you to not only take a photo, but also read a QR code. Also, there is an app (usually called QR code reader) that reads the information encoded in a QR code. This information can be anything – website address, contact information and etc.

When a barcode attached to a product is scanned, you learn the price of that product. When a QR code is scanned, your smartphone can play a video clip, take you to a website, make a phone call, send a text message, show you a map, anything is possible.

If you have a decent phone (e.g. iPhone, Android-based phones, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7), basically you’re carrying a wireless QR code scanner.

Now, what does QR code have anything to do with a flyer? Basically, you can do something like this:

As you can see, it’s just a normal flyer printed on a plain letter-sized paper. Nothing special. And, of course, the video printed on the paper flyer cannot be played (duh), but if you scan the QR code with your smartphone, guess what? You can watch the virtual home tour on your phone!
