Now, let’s see how you can post your GoGoPin ads to Backpage.

Step 1:

Create and export your ad.

Step 2:

Copy the HTML code generated.

Step 3:

Visit Backpage.com and click “Post an ad” at the top of the main page.

Step 4:

Click “Post local ads”. You might want to create a Backpage account at this point if you’d like to make the posting process simpler in the future – if you do not have an account, your ad won’t go live until you click the link provided in the email you’ll receive upon submitting your ad.

(To make this tutorial simpler, we will not cover posting an ad in multiple cities.)

Step 5:

Choose a metro area where you want your ad to show up.

Step 6 & 7:

Choose a section and category for your ad (e.g. automotive, real estate, and furniture for sale)

Step 8:

Choose a location that best fits your ad.

Step 9:

Now this is the most important part. First, fill out the title, selling price, and location. In the Description field, paste the HTML code you copied from Step 2. Enter your email address. Highlighted are only required fields.

Step 10:

Click “Continue” at the bottom of the page. There are few advanced options which will let your ad stand out from the crowd and make your life easier through automation. This is absoutely optional. As long as you stick with the basic option, it’s completely free.

Step 11:

At this point, you will be able to preview your ad. What you see in this preview page should be the same as what you see in GoGoPin Ad Designer. Pass the CAPTCHA challenge. If you don’t know what CAPTCHA is, please read this descriptoin at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAPTCHA.

Step 12 & 13:

If you’re following this tutorial without creating a Backpage account, this is the step you must go through (for those who have created and log in to the account, your ad is already live at this point). As soon as you pass the CAPTCHA challenge in Step 11, you will receive a confirmation email. Click the link provided in the email, then your ad will go live immediately.

You’re done! Get ready to meet thousands of new visitors today!

We hope Craigslist publically release the standards which are being used to review the ads on Craigslist. We also hope Craigslist explicitly tell advertisers the reason why their ads are deleted.

Few weeks ago, Google shut down its search engine in China because of China’s unreasonable censorship. If what Craigslist is doing is different from what China is doing, Craigslist should explain the difference clearly.

One thing you notice is that the URL in the address bar is not http://www.craigslist.org/. Well, they look real, but it is not! Don’t get fooled by the scammer and NEVER give up your credit card information.

Right before you post your ad on Craigslist you get a chance to preview your ad. Craigslist chose to deliver this preview page using a HTTPS connection but your ad (one of the elements of the preview page) is actually delivered using a HTTP connection.

Because some of the elements of the page are delivered using HTTPS and some using HTTP, Internet Explorer tells you “This page contains both secure and non-secure items“.

But I think that it’s not fair to say that anything being delivered in a normal HTTP connection is non-secure. The ads you created with GoGoPin Ad, delivered to viewers using a normal HTTP connection, are just plain PNG/JPEG images, which are completely safe, causing no harm to users at all.

Anyway, in Internet Explorer 7 and earlier version, this dialog would cause annoyance to users but generally didn’t cause any other significant problems. This was because it was worded in such a way that most users would click on the “Yes” button and allow non-secure content to be downloaded.

However, the wording in the IE 8 version of this dialog has changed:

Read carefully. Now you would have to click the “No” button to see all the content properly. Some of our users clicked the “Yes” button, saw nothing in the Preview page, and complained that GoGoPin Ad is not working properly. Well, I have to say that the dialog tricked them.

You won’t see this sort of warning dialog in Firefox or Safari. But if you are using Internet Explorer, please pay little bit more attention to what the dialog actually says.

Now, it came to our attention that some of our users’ computers are infected with Malware which can cause trouble using GoGoPin and possibly other sites.

If you are seeing a screen like this, it doesn’t necessarilly mean the site you are trying to visit is harmful, but it DEFINITELY means you have a malware to uninstall from your computer.

So when you see this, make sure you scan your computer and remove those malwares.
